Väliraamatukogu Paide arvamusfestivali haridusalale
Outdoor library
With: Laura Pint + the help of Anu Piirisild, building it Keiti Lige, Ann Kristiin Entson
Place: Paide city center, small town in Estonia
Year: 2017, summer
Projekt sündis Paide Arvamusfestivali tarbeks, kus iga ala loob endale uue kujunduse.
ENGLISH:
The project was born for a festival we have yearly in Paide, where different discussion areas have different kinds of design depending on the themes discussed in the specific area.
Me and Laura were designing the area of education, so we decided for and outdoor library, which had been happening in some ways previous years already – so we used that oppurtunity and made it even bigger. it was free for people to come and read if they wished, and also choose and take a book with him/her to home. It was mostly ”left-over” books from the local library, which were older books that would have been thrown away, but found good use in the hands of people, who were really into discovering around the different shelves and topics of books.
The project is reusable every year, during the event in the summer season, the shelves can change the purpose with time and necessities. During the first use we felt that it got very popular with the visitors, who were happy to shuffle around the shelves in the search of some specific books and initiating a conversation in between the lookers.
